Hello! I'm Elaine, the founder of Magpie Tours London.

I've always been fascinated by history and the stories hidden within places. Whether it's an ancient church, a forgotten alleyway or the surprising origins of a nursery rhyme, I love discovering the details that many people walk straight past.

My passion for history led me to study History and Religious Studies (World Religions) before completing a Master's degree in The Country House: Art, History and Literature. Since then, I've been fortunate to work at some wonderful heritage sites, helping people connect with the stories of the past and bringing history to life.

To develop my skills as a London guide, I joined the Golden Key Academy, an Open City training programme that supports aspiring tour guides in creating original, engaging and accessible walking tours. The experience has helped me transform years of historical curiosity into tours that encourage people to look at London with fresh eyes and discover the remarkable stories hidden in everyday places.

When I'm not researching London's history or planning new tours, I'm a mum to two wonderful girls. They are my greatest inspiration for seeing the city through curious eyes and asking, "Why?" Their endless questions remind me that history should be fun, accessible and full of discovery, whatever your age.
